Volvo adds emergency braking technology to trucks

Volvo has made a collision warning system with emergency braking available for its new FH Series trucks to help reduce or prevent severe accidents caused by driver inattention. The Volvo system – designed to deal with both stationary and moving vehicles – combines both a radar and a camera to identify and monitor vehicles in front at speeds of up to 70km/h.When the system detects a vehicle in the truck’s path it will hit at its current speed, the warning system activates a constant red light in the windscreen to alert the driver and bring their attention back to the road. If no reaction from the driver is detected, such as steering or braking inputs, the system increases to a flashing red light and a beeping sound.

Solar powered tent

The idea is that specially coated solar threads are woven into conventional fabric so designers wouldn’t have to use fixed solar panels to harness the energy. It would also have three directional glides that can be moved throughout the day to maximise solar efficiency and energy collection.
But the most amazing bit about this concept solar powered tent is its central wireless control hub which lets you see the amount of energy being generated and used, as well as sending out a wireless internet signal for anyone who needs to surf the internet. This is displayed on a gadget geeks dream… a touchscreen LCD display screen.
