10 things to know about Samsung Galaxy S9 before having one

Are you planning to buy the new shiny Samsung Galaxy S9? It has good new features but the design of Samsung Galaxy S9 is the same as Samsung Galaxy S8 except for the camera on phone. So there will be no surprise of previous of S8 owners in the phone design matter.

Set up a facial recognition:

With this feature, you don’t have to type in a passcode every time you want to access your phone. With the Samsung Galaxy S9 you can set up smart Intelligent Scan, which uses the combination of face recognition and the iris scanner to confirm your identity and unlock the phone. If you want to set up a facial recognition you can go to Settings > Lock screen and security > Intelligent Scan, enter your passcode and then register your face and iris data from the camera. Finally just ensure the slider is activated for Intelligent Scan unlock.

Another way to access your phone is with Fingerprint Scanner. Where you can find the sensor on the rear-side of the phone below the camera. If you want to set up this feature then you can return to Lock Screen and Security and you’ll find the option for the Fingerprint Scanner, where you can register your prints

Turn yourself into an emoji:

Are you a fluent user of emoji and are a bit tired of those that are available? Then this is a feature that you will LOVE! With this new feature, you can make your face into an emoji and share it. The S9 allows you to create an avatar based on your own looks. Just open up the camera, swipe to AR Emoji, then press the Create My Emoji in the blue bubble on the left side of your screen.

How to do: Take a picture of your face, select your sex and then your emoji will flash up on screen. Then you can customise its hair, clothes and skin tone in order to use your creativity and fantasy. Press OK and the process is complete, then you are ready to share your own unique emoji.

Camera stickers – mask:

Another way of having fun with selfies is with the Camera stickers – mask feature, it is a built-in function so you can choose an animated mask on your selfie. Once you choose the one you want you will get that animated mask added to photos automatically when they are taken and you can share it immediately. One benefit of this feature is that it is hassle-free. You can both take a picture and put animated mask at same app. In comparing with other phones you need to first take the picture and then open another app to edit your selfie. So this is a time-saving feature if you are really into in taking selfies.

Activate the always-on display:

Unlocking your phone just to see the clock not only takes up your precious time but also wastes some amount of S9’s battery. By activating the always-on display you will save your time but also battery since it is only lighting up the required pixels by AMOLED screen it will barely drain any battery.

To set up this feature you can Open up Settings > Always On Display and then activate the ON slider right at the top. Further down you can choose what the screen displays (the digital home button, the clock, or both).

Press that and you will be asked to sign into your Samsung account and accept all of the terms and conditions. Once that is done, press Text which is found on the far left and you will get the translated text instantly.

Search bar:

With search bar feature, you can search for anything on your phone. From different apps to any calendar appointment. This is a great function if you have a lot of apps on your phone and you want to find that specific app. But to use this feature you need to first find the search bar itself. It is in the app drawer, on the top of the screen.  You have to swipe down from home-screen and you will get it into view.
