Here are 10 things to know:

Gear VR Controls – Use the Gear VR controller as a remote control to navigate your virtual reality.

When using the Gear VR, this controller becomes a replacement for a lot of the activity normally done on the headset itself. You can look down and see the controller in VR, and if you point the controller you can almost see a laser pointer effect. You can select things without turning your head, shoot enemies in games, and drag things around on the screen as you want. So having a Gear VR with control is a huge benefit since it will be more easy to use it for different functions.

The controller is designed to be used naturally with one hand. There is a small trackpad at the top for your thumb, there you can press and swipe to select and navigate. On the front there is trigger button there can you press to initiate an action. And there is also a volume key button there you can press to raise or lower volume. Don’t worry if you will press wrong, there is a back button + home button on the front of this control. So you can navigate more easily on this Gear VR.

Using Gear VR while having glasses – This Gear VR is built with enough space so you can use it with glasses in VR. But it is not recommended because it can make scratching on lenses inside your Samsung Gear VR headset. There is a feature that can hopefully help you! If you want to avoid scratchers you can try without glasses by using the Focus Adjustment Wheel at the top of your headset to adjust the distance between your phone and the Gear VR’s lenses.

Notification feature – When someone texts or call you, you will get a little pop-up notification from your phone to Gear VR while you are wearing it. Unfortunately, there is not much you can actually do, so they mostly just interrupt your game.

But you can change the notification setting so you will not get interrupted, and it is a good idea to consider using this feature.  It keeps your distraction-free in VR, which is important if you are watching a video or playing game.

Swivel chairs feature – One of the experiences that you will find on your Gear VR is a 360-degree of photos and videos. While you can certainly just sit on your couch and turn your head around, there is a better way. With a swivel chair, you can easily rotate around without craning your neck. It doesn’t matter whether you are just watching a video, or playing games, being able to truly turn around 360-degree is one of the perks of VR. Swivel chairs helps you in this and make sure you get the best possible experience.

Complete with a Gamepad – There are plenty of different games to check out on the Gear VR, and some of them require a gamepad. But you can use the touchpad on the side of the headset to play many games, the Gear VR controller can handle most games. But having an Android compatible gamepad makes things much easier. This is because there are games like Minecraft that needs more buttons so it will be more easier to play and fully enjoy. You can connect the gamepad to your phone using Bluetooth.

Explore your artistic side –  Creative types can take their art into new dimensions, creating searing, interactive masterpieces with incredible 3D brush strokes. Use the room as your canvas, creating stunning layers that appear to be suspended in mid-air. You can appreciate art in new ways, too. A fully-immersive, VR version of Van Gogh’s The Night Café allows you to step inside one of the Dutch master’s most famous works and pull up a chair next to the ne’er do wells.

Your own personal cinema – You can easily watch Netflix right from your Samsung Gear VR and it will feels like you are in a cinema. You can get Netflix on your Gear VR by downloading it from the Oculus Store. Once you’ve found Netflix in your app list, select it and it will open up. The first thing you will notice is that they have given you an excellent cabin to enjoy your shows in and it will feels like your own personal cinema. There are photos on the walls, a plush red couch to watch from. Then all you need to do is go ahead and choose what movie you want to see and enjoy your own personal cinema.

Comfort Mode – It is recommended to adjust the Comfort Mode, which lets you adjust how warm or cool the background lighting you want it to be so it will give less demanding on the eyes and a better comfort. Then what you have to do is Press and hold the Back key on the side and Highlight Comfort Mode option with the on-screen pointer and tap the touchpad. Then the screen will display Comfort Mode: On

Use headphones – Virtual reality is all about the visual experience, right? But a good set of headphones will dramatically improve your experience with Gear VR. So you should invest in a good pair of headphones, or earbuds.  A Bluetooth pair will ensure that you don’t get tangled up in the wire but they are reported that they can give “lag” when they used with the Gear VR. So I would recommend a good pair of wired headphone to get the ultimate experience of Samsung Gear VR.

Avoid overheating – if you are using an older phone with your Gear VR, there is a risk that it will get heated up. Overheating has been a pretty serious issue, but there are a few ways to help your phone to try to avoid overheating.

Before starting up your Gear VR be sure to close all other applications, and make sure that the VR app you want to play is already installed on your phone. You can also remove the visor on the outside of the headset to help ensure that your phone is getting as much air as possible if you are using an older model headset.
